What is BPS (blocks per second)?
How many blocks the network produces each second. Kaspa runs at 10.
BPS stands for blocks per second. Kaspa has run at 10 BPS since the Crescendo upgrade in May 2025, meaning a new proof-of-work block about every 100 milliseconds.
In context
| Network | Target block time | Blocks per hour |
|---|---|---|
| Kaspa | 0.1 s | 36,000 |
| Dogecoin | 60 s | 60 |
| Monero | 120 s | 30 |
| Litecoin | 150 s | 24 |
| Bitcoin | 600 s | 6 |
Why more blocks per second helps
- Transactions are included almost immediately.
- Confirmations stack up quickly, so you can be confident sooner.
- Rewards are spread across many more blocks, so mining income is smoother.
What's next
Higher block rates are on Kaspa's roadmap. See the upgrade tracker, or watch 10 BPS happen on our live dashboard.
